Why are these portraits so special?
My goal is to achieve not just a likeness, but to capture the attitude or special quality that stands your particular animal uniquely apart from all others.
I love to listen to you tell me about your animal friend. What characteristics do you notice? What kind of personality does the animal have? What about the way he cocks an ear, or crosses her legs when curled in her favorite chair. Stories help me illustrate the true personality of your animal friend.
Pricing for a commission starts at $80 for a 4×6 head study to $960 for a 16 x 20 head study. Please contact the artist for more details.
When possible, I like to do quick studies of the animal as well as take photos for reference. If it is not possible to meet you and your pet in person, then please send at least one good photograph (preferable several). Your photographs will be returned with the completed portrait. I do reserve the right to accept or refuse photographs on their ability to create a portrait that will best show your animal companion. If you submit a professional photograph, please include a release from the photographer.
Once work begins, please allow 8-12 weeks to complete.
I require one third down to reserve your portrait. I will then prepare a rough layout for you to approve. The second third will be due before I begin working on the final piece. Finally, the last third is due upon delivery. If for some reason, you request further alterations, these will be charged on an hourly rate for any changes requiring more then 2 hours to complete.
Prices on the graphite includes a mat. Frames are additional.
