Nearly there now…

11 05 2011

Well, maybe 2 or 3 hours and I’ll have this one completed.  It has been a challenge and I’ve learned quite a bit.  I’m not yet very comfortable with using the color pencils to enhance a graphite drawing, but I am happy with the effect achieved so far.   I was able to spend some time with the dog and her person a couple of weeks ago.  It was very helpful to see, again, the dog after having spent time working from photos.

… update…

here she is… may be a little bit of fine tuning over the next couple of days… but pretty much done.

Hint of apricot

28 04 2011

Spent some time last weekend taking more photos of the subject.  Trying to get a better idea of just how much and where her apricot points show.  The trick I think is going to be hinting at it without shouting color!  So I am trying to lay down just a little color with water soluable pencil and a light wash… Then will go back over with pencil to pull up the details again.

A little color…

Moving into some color now to pick up the green bed and red ball.

Work is progressing.   Trying to work out the lighting at the moment.  It is going to be front right, pretty strong light, which means I think I need to push the darks!  Always tough to do.

Bit by bit, bump by bump… making progress…

Some progress to share…

Finally getting back to the drawing board after a very busy few months at work.  Having fun with the texture, bump bed, bumpy dog… should be interesting.

Here goes… the dog bed.

14 01 2011

What a busy December and January! I’ve not had much time to work on this until recently. But now back on the task at hand…working through the textures of the dog bed.
